Misprints: pairs of words differing in one letter
Each entry in the following table leads to a list of words which are a single misprint away from another word. For example, clicking on the lq link will take you to a list of words containing an l where the l can be replaced by a q to yield another word. In this example, the list is:
eluant equant eluate equate eluates equates laddish qaddish lat qat li qi loran qoran lum qum sluit squit
Many of the lists are rather longer than this one: the largest individual list (ds) is 163 kbytes and contains 8412 entries. A couple are empty.
The list linked to at the end of each row is the union of the lists in that row: so, for example, the list q_ is a list of all words where a q is misprinted as any other letter. Likewise, the list linked to at the bottom of each column is the union of the lists in that column: for example, the list _x is a list of all words where any letter is misprinted as an x.
Alternatively, you can download this tar’red and gzip’ped collection of all the lists (4.7 Mbytes). The files are all in plain text.
